River Rafting

How to Prepare for River Rafting

Expert tips on safety, gear, and what to expect.

1. Choose the Right Clothing

Wear quick-dry clothes such as polyester or nylon. Avoid cotton because it stays wet and becomes heavy during rafting.

2. Bring the Essential Gear

You don’t need to buy gear—operators provide helmets, life jackets, and paddles. Just bring sunscreen, lip balm, a towel and water.

3. Listen to Safety Instructions

Before the ride, the guide will explain paddling positions, safety commands, and how to stay balanced. Follow the instructions carefully.

4. Know the Basic Rafting Commands

5. Prepare Physically

You don’t need to be an athlete, but light stretching and basic fitness helps you stay active throughout the ride.

6. Protect Your Belongings

Keep your phone, wallet, and valuables in a waterproof dry bag or give them to the operator before the ride.

7. Stay Calm During Rapids

Rapids look scary but the guide is trained. Sit properly, hold the paddles tight, and trust the instructions.
